Moldavian Culinary Routes - new edition

autor: Agata Koziej

Further organisational and legal support for producers registering regional products as Geographic Indicators and extension of tourism and regional processing capacity in Câlârași region are the main objectives of Development Policy Foundation’s project implemented in Moldova in 2016.

The project “Moldovian Culinary Routs: microinvestments, promotion, registration”, realised by Development Policy Foundation in 2016, is a continuation of last year’s project. Its implementation is possible thanks to the support of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Polish Development Aid 2016 program and cooperation with partners: Ecological Movement of Moldovaand LGD „Vistula Terra Culmensis – Development through Tradition” from Stolno, PL, and Moldovian NGOs: .

This year, the project will support GI product registrations - at the EU level. The genuine success of the activities in 2015 was the registration of first Moldovan culinary products other than wine at the national level. Registration of apricot palinka (Rachiu de caise de Nimoreni) and  Calarasi Roses petal jam (Dulceata din petale de trandafir Calarasi) as Regional Products paved the way for the registration of other agricultural manufacturing products in Moldova.

In addition, the offer of bike routes in the region will be expanded. Furthermore, there is planned the establishment of Community Kitchen - creative workspace for local producers from the area of Palanca village. The local community will be included in the co-creation of the tourism product based on cycle routes and tastings of local products. We invite you to download the mobile application with routes of Câlârași region. The application and information about manufacturers will be extended during the project. There will be also a new tasting route created, offering the possibility of tasting and buying local and regional products.

Creation of a brand of regional products will increase the promotional potential of products and will promote the region as a seat of culinary heritage.

Among the activities of the project, we plan promotional events for the regional products - on the occasion of the new bike trail inauguration and Christmas fair. There will be also organised a study visit of Moldovan partners in Poland - they will participate in the festival of regional products in Gruczno (PL), meet with local producers and take part in a series of trainings and meetings with people working in the food sector and regional products marketing.

We invite you to keep track of events within the project:
